November 2014

It is a huge honour to be a part of the Class of 2014 in Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40. I would like to thank Wanda Piatelli and Bryce Adamson for nominating me. At first, I truly didn’t think it was a big deal, but as the date approached and the magazine came out, I began to realize how crazy it was to be in this list. When the publishers asked me to be on the cover as well, I was shocked. Thankfully the editors made me look decent, as I had just flown back the day before from Germany. There were definitely bags under my eyes that aren’t there anymore!

Please take time to read the list of all 40 people. They are all inspiring in their own way. I was so happy to see many people in the non-profit sector, as well as the health field. The gala was held yesterday at the Jack Singer Hall, and was really well-received. It will be strange to walk by Starbucks and see my face on the magazine cover, that’s for sure. Here are the links:

Anyone who dares to play Beethoven's last Piano Sonata Opus 111 must be fearless and confident in his skills. In the case of Thomas Yu, both are true...[He] plays the piece with elegance and depth...and his interpretation was the highlight of the festival day.
