March 2009

I just received the video postings from my friend and fellow pianist, Christopher Shih. We performed the Poulenc Double Concerto back in November 2008 with the Newton Symphony. Check out the following links. We also hammed it up with a version of the Brasiliera from Scaramouche, as well as a very special birthday sing-along with the audience for our birthday boy, Chris. Again, I have a recap of the experience in a previous blog (http://www.thomasyu.ca/page/blog-post/boston-la-wrap-up/). Hope you like it.

Anyone who dares to play Beethoven's last Piano Sonata Opus 111 must be fearless and confident in his skills. In the case of Thomas Yu, both are true...[He] plays the piece with elegance and depth...and his interpretation was the highlight of the festival day.
