My first concert upon arriving in Paris (36 hours after arrival) will be at the prestigious Salle Cortot. Built in 1929, Salle Cortot is an art-deco masterpiece and an acoustical gem. “It sounds like a Stradivarius,” wrote Alfred Cortot. Designed by Auguste Perret, the architect of the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Salle Cortot has beautiful paneling and a circular stage, on which countless renowned artists have played. It is one of the most appreciated music theaters in Paris. Have a look below...there is also an advertisement for the upcoming concert.

The concert will be a fundraiser for Solidarités Enfants SIDA (http://www.solensi.asso.fr/) , which is an assoication that helps families with children affected by AIDS. It will feature some friends from the Paris competition, along with the competition’s famous founder, Monsieur Gerard Bekerman.

Tune in frequently to my website for updated blogs along the way! There are some pretty cool venues lined up for this European tour.

Anyone who dares to play Beethoven's last Piano Sonata Opus 111 must be fearless and confident in his skills. In the case of Thomas Yu, both are true...[He] plays the piece with elegance and depth...and his interpretation was the highlight of the festival day.
