Hello everyone! I am sorry for the delay in updating my website. Things are a bit hectic these days as I am trying to find work as a periodontist in the bustling city of Toronto. I have tried to keep my schedule free of performing until I can set up more of a career as a periodontist. So for those of you who might be able to help out, if you hear of any good “perio gigs” out there I would be more than happy to hear about it!
In the mean time, I have had an interesting opportunity to be on the cover of the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association. It is a great honour to be on the cover, as I am still quite new in the dental world. The issue is a special for the University of Toronto, and since I submitted a paper for the journal, they chose me to be on the cover. I think it’s pretty quirky to see myself on a dental magazine...never in my wildest dreams would I have ever predicted that one, ha! There is also a short interview as you will see. I wanted to make special mention to my mentors in the dental world, Dr. Fransisco Otero (U of Sask), Drs. Michael Sigal and Gerald Baker (Mount Sinai) and Drs. Howard Tenenbaum and Jim Lai (U of T). Each one of these people taught me how to balance a challenging career as a dentist/periodontist and musician. I am proud to say that I could not have chosen a better career path to compliment the music!
Again, thank you to Rita and Bruno from the U of T photography department for taking such a nice picture. As a side note, I was feverish with a bad case of the flu that day...I am not sure how I even managed to smile for the photo, ha! For those of you wondering how my music life is going, I am still practicing daily. I am working on new repertoire and focusing on my health (both mentally and physically). I think it is a good thing that I am taking a break from performing at this time. I really thank you for your patience, and I guarantee that I will burst out with a rejuvenated passion to perform again very soon! You can count on it, so stay tuned.
His Liszt had all the bravura and beauty you could hope for, and his Dutilleux was pure rock and roll.
