Up until last week, I couldn’t remember the last time my hair was cut. I had high hopes of not cutting it for as long as possible, at least until I went home to Saskatoon. I knew my mom would likely faint if she saw the long hair.
Well as much as I loved having the long hair, it was time for a cut. I don’t know how girls keep long hair...that’s high maintenance work! Actually, my hair care involves just putting a toque on after a shower. So, back to the same old look. But perhaps I should start the growing process again…
OK, back to being serious. Thank you to the Saskatchewan Arts Board for the Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Award. I am deeply appreciative in receiving the award. Much praise goes again to Lucille and Dr. Francisco Otero and Bonnie Nicholson for their hard work putting the nomination together. My dad was there to accept the award on my behalf...and he memorized the speech! I wish I could have been there to see that. I would also like to thank Senator Lillian Dyck, who sent me a beautiful plaque on behalf of the Senate. I couldn’t be happier to see the support from our government. Together, let’s keep supporting the arts!
Also, don’t forget to tune into http://www.classical963fm.com this Thursday at 12pm ET! There will be a feature of perforners from the Conservatory, including myself. It should be lots of fun, regardless of hair length.
Anyone who dares to play Beethoven's last Piano Sonata Opus 111 must be fearless and confident in his skills. In the case of Thomas Yu, both are true...[He] plays the piece with elegance and depth...and his interpretation was the highlight of the festival day.
