Hello everyone,
I just noticed that is has been 2 long months since I have posted anything on my site. The good news is that I am practicing as much as I ever have, as my energy is beginning to return and so is my desire to perform. It is funny...not long ago you would have to hold me back from getting up on stage. These days I have been quite hesitant to perform, for various reasons which I will share some time in the near future. I apologize to those who have been hoping for me to play, but I cancelled many engagements for those reasons. However, I am excited to get back into the swing of things and play new repertoire...I can only imagine how nervous I will be next week for these gigs! I will of course report back on my experiences coming up. I am looking forward to playing at the Chan Centre in Vancouver, as well as the Oscar Peterson Hall in Montreal.
My biggest congratulations goes out to a friend of mine, Dr. Christopher Shih, an American doctor who swept the Paris competition last week. I am very proud of his accomplishment, and look up to him in many ways. We will be able to pool our resources together and tackle the Poulenc double concerto next fall, so stay tuned! You can see his finals performance on You Tube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3jBJ1wquafs). Way to go, Chris!
His Liszt had all the bravura and beauty you could hope for, and his Dutilleux was pure rock and roll.
